VoLTE, or "Voice over Long Term Evolution," is a technology that uses our 4G and 5G networks for voice calls. Unlike older 3G technology, VoLTE offers much better call quality, faster connection times, and enhanced reliability. If your phone supports VoLTE, you’ll experience clearer voice calls with reduced background noise and stronger connectivity, especially when using data services alongside calls.

1. Check Coverage

Make sure you are within Scott Mobile’s 4G and 5G coverage areas. Use our coverage maps to confirm availability in your location.

2. Confirm Device Compatibility

Check if your device supports VoLTE and VoLTE roaming. Here’s a quick guide:

• iPhone users: VoLTE is supported from iPhone 6 and newer models.
• Android users: Many Android devices support VoLTE, including models from Samsung, Google, and more.

3. Update Software

Ensure your phone’s operating system (iOS for Apple, Android for Samsung and others) is up to date. You can manually check for updates in your phone’s settings.

4. Enable VoLTE

Activate VoLTE in your phone’s settings under mobile network options. If you face issues, try restarting your phone while in an area with strong network coverage. In some cases, your SIM may need activation for VoLTE – contact our support team if needed.

Scott Mobile offers VoLTE 4G and 5G calling across New Zealand in all areas covered by our 4G and 5G networks. Whether you’re in the city or rural areas, as long as you’re in a covered region, you’ll enjoy high-quality VoLTE calls.

VoLTE roaming lets you enjoy the same high-quality calls when travelling internationally. Scott Mobile is expanding its VoLTE roaming partnerships globally, enabling you to experience VoLTE in more countries. However, ensure your phone supports VoLTE roaming, as some models may not.

Note: Even if your device doesn’t support VoLTE roaming, you can still access 4G data and SMS services while abroad.

As part of our network evolution, Scott Mobile is planning to phase out our 3G network, following international trends. Many countries like the U.S. and Taiwan have already shut down their 3G networks, and Australia and Singapore will follow suit soon. To continue enjoying voice services, ensure your device supports VoLTE for both local and international use.

Scott Mobile has tested and approved a range of devices that are compatible with VoLTE and VoLTE roaming. If your phone was purchased from another provider or overseas, it may still work with VoLTE, but we cannot guarantee it. Refer to our device compatibility list to confirm if your phone supports VoLTE and VoLTE roaming.
