Important Roaming Information

  • All new SIM cards must be activated on New Zealand networks before applying a roaming pack.
  • Roaming Packs include incoming and outgoing calls and texts to and from anywhere in the world.
  • You can use the same roaming add-on across multiple eligible destinations.
  • Once the minute or text allowance is exceeded, additional charges will apply per destination's rates unless another add-on is purchased.

Please note:

  • All new SIMs need to be activated on NZ networks before applying a roaming pack.
  • If you have a roaming pack with minutes and text allowances, the allowance includes all person-to-person incoming and outgoing calls and texts, including incoming calls from landlines.
  • You can use the same roaming add-on in any of our listed roaming destinations.
  • If you exceed your add-on minute allowance, additional calls will be charged at the applicable per-minute rate for the destination you are in unless you purchase another add-on.
  • Traveling to multiple eligible destinations? One add-on will suffice until it expires or you have used up the allowances.

Our Roaming service keeps you connected with your mobile plan while you travel overseas. As we transition into 2024, several of our international roaming partners are shutting down their 3G networks.

For those traveling to Australia, the US, Singapore, or Taiwan, here are some key details regarding your roaming services:

  • USA: 3G networks shut down from April 2024.
  • Taiwan: 3G networks shut down from July 1, 2024.
  • Singapore: 3G networks shut down from August 1, 2024.
  • Australia: 3G networks shut down from October 28, 2024.

As the world bids farewell to 3G networks, it’s crucial to ensure that your mobile device is equipped for the transition to 4G and 5G technologies. These advanced networks offer improved coverage, faster data speeds, and clearer call quality.

If you have an older phone that only supports 2G and 3G, you will be unable to make calls, send texts, or use data in countries where 3G has been phased out. Upgrading to a device that supports 4G or 5G is essential.

To ensure compatibility, your 4G or 5G phone must be VoLTE compatible, which means it can make voice calls over the newer networks. Not all 4G phones support VoLTE, and some older VoLTE-compatible models may work in NZ but not while traveling overseas.
